UAE Embassy in Beirut concludes project to distribute sacrificial meat
Beirut - Musimchronicle

The Humanitarian and Development Affairs Department at the UAE Embassy in Beirut has concluded an Emirati project, which was launched last Wednesday, to distribute sacrificial meat and Eid clothes to families and children in Lebanon.

In its statement, the department said that the number of beneficiaries that received Eid clothes, generously donated by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, reached 6,070 children between the ages of one and 16 years.

It added that it had supervised the distribution of sacrificial meat to 9,700 families during Eid al-Adha, as part of a project to distribute sacrificial meat through donations by many UAE authorities, including to 7,275 families by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, 1,843 families by the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, and 582 families by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.

The sacrificial meat was distributed in cooperation with several partners in Lebanon, including the Ministry of State for Displaced Persons Affairs, Dar Al Fatwa in the Hasbaya and Marjayoun districts, the Relief and Humanitarian Aid Unit of Dar Al Fatwa, the Islamic Centre in Aisha Bakkar, Dar Al Ajza Al Islamiya, the Islamic Orphanage and Chebaa Municipality, as well as civil society institutions such as the Lebanon Centre for Volunteer Work, the Sadana Initiative, Sanabil Al Nour, Muwasat, the Arab Development Authority, the World Peace Federation Organisation and the Federation of Arab Clans in Lebanon.

The distribution project included various Lebanese regions, such as Baabda, Siblin, Naameh, Khalda, Shuweifat, as well as villages in Kharroub, Hasbaya, Chebaa, Beirut, Saida, Akkar, Wadi Khaled, Arsal and Tripoli, as part of the desire of the department to reach out to all areas of the country.

Under this framework, Mohammed Ali Al Hamily, Acting Director of the Humanitarian and Development Affairs Department, said that their charity and humanitarian projects complement other earlier projects and will be continued with the cooperation of Lebanese authorities, to reach out to families and children in need, and draw a smile on their faces during Eid al-Adha.

He added that children have the right to enjoy Eid and be happy despite their humanitarian situation, emphasising that these are the values promoted by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan during the Year of Diving, which reflects the country’s vision of charity and humanitarian work inspired by its Islamic values and national culture.
