Tripoli - MENA

Libyan Health Minister Reida Oakely said on Friday that about two million Libyan nationals are in dire need for life-saving medical care and drugs.

Speaking to Sky News, the minister said two thirds of hospitals in the Arab country are either closed or lack basic equipment needed for serving people.

The minister said a number of people were announced dead on Thursday when a Korean medical team left Ghat city, the capital of Ghat District in the Fezzan region of southwestern Libya.

The deaths happened as the patients did not received their dialysis care, he said.

Asked about permitting medial supplies and drugs into the hot zones, the minister said the main problem is having no supplies to help these regions.

The county has developed no budget for the medication, supplies or for hiring new staffs at the emergency sections.

Oakely urged the international community and the United Nations to help people in need whether in Libya, Syria or Yemen, calling for holding political dialogues and concert effort to fight Daesh.
