Dr. Mohamed Badar
Amman - Iman Yousef

Dr. Mohamed Badar, positive psychology specialist, revealed for Arabs Today that positive psychology aims to study the personal happiness and wellness, as well as understanding the positive emotions that may be summed up in satisfaction with the past, happiness in the present, and hope for the future.

Badar pointed out that most branches of psychology were interested in helping individuals to return from the negative situation to zero condition,  where there is no disturbance,  to achieve goal after goal to increase achievement, improve performance, increase production, improve quality, etc.

"However, the family or school education interest in improving achievement and performance still prevails more than  developing the character of the good and creative citizen, advocated by the educational systems in different countries, and the attention of human resources to the achievement of workers for their work is still prevailing more than developing the personality of the skilled worker, Badar stated.

But with the scientific and technological development as well as the contributions made by psychology, the institutions of science and work have adopted modern orientations that have made them closer to the human nature and beyond the workmanship, and attention has been paid to the psychological aspects of self-reliance and institutional prosperity. "Since its inception as a science, its applications are reflected in all fields," he said.

Badar pointed out that because of the image of the cup with half full or half empty, it is possible to rely on the same picture to differentiate positive psychology, which is one of the branches of psychology and positive thinking, which is a personal optimistic perspective.

"This may be a beautiful invitation to optimism, but psychology may invite you out of reality and escape from seeing the empty half that is an integral part of it, he added."Positive psychology came to call you more comprehensively to see that cup as refillable, allowing you to look at the two halves of optimism for what exists and for the opportunity to compensate for what has been done," said the positive psychology specialist.

Badar emphasizes the importance of the time that covers our lives between its days, as well as the importance of our outlook on it. "There is no more beautiful than being satisfied with the past, happy in the present and has hope for the future," he concluded.
