Malaysia on Wednesday charged two foreign women in the Magistrate's Court with the murder of Kim Jong Nam at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 on February 13.
Siti Aisyah, 25, an Indonesian national, and Doan Thi Huong, 29, a Vietnamese citizen, were charged with four other people still at large with the murder the estranged half brother of North Korea's leader.
Kim Jong Nam, was killed in Kuala Lumpur's main airport on February 13 after two women allegedly smeared VX nerve agent, a chemical described by the United Nations as a weapon of mass destruction, across his face.
At the court today, the charge was read out to the women separately. No plea was recorded from them, Malaysia's (Bernama) News Agency reported. Siti Aisyah is the first accused and Thi Huong, the second. The women were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which provides for the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
Sessions Court Judge Harith Sham Mohamed Yasin, who sat as a magistrate, set April 13 for mention of the case. The two women were sent to the Kajang Prison.
