Cairo- Akram Ali

Hazem Salah Abu Ismail Cairo- Akram Ali Egyptian Islamist presidential candidate Hazem Salah Abu Ismail said: "Egypt tries to guard itself from Israel, and as long as we take care of our rights and interests no problems will occur"” while summarising bilateral relations between the countries. “Israel knows the internal map of Egypt well, so it will celebrate if a copy of Mubarak wins, and will sadden in case the candidate of the people wins." Abu Ismail said in an exclusive interview with 'Arabstoday': "There is no doubt that Egypt is an enemy of Israel, and Israel automatically take this into account, but when the candidate who belongs to the people wins, then other things may occur." About the recent clashes in Maspero, the candidate said: "These events were orchestrated by the military junta and Christians to achieve some goals of their own, which allowed the Supreme Council of Armed Forces to quiet its opponents, while Christians get to pass laws in their favour.” Abu Ismail affirmed that the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) was able to stop any clashes before they escalated, but he wanted the clashes to happen to gain the sympathy of Muslims in the face of the Copts.  He added that the deadline for SCAF to hand over power was due on September 30, which the military junta set to itself to hand over power eight months after the fall of Mubarak's regime. The Salafi candidate asked the Military Council to declare a clear and consistent timetable for the transition process of power to a civilian government as soon as possible, refusing to let the junta stay after April 2012. On the security situation Ismail said: "The security situation is a governmental creature, and it is a pretext to occupy the people...I do not see loose security, it works as it was before the revolution". About his election platform Abu Ismail said that he would “try to apply the concept of Halal tourism, which is applied by the Turkish system, as it is possible to develop tourism through an agreement with a number of foreign companies for marking Egyptian tourism with alcohol and other acts that anger God," expressing his displeasure with the current tourism system in Egypt. The presidential candidate suggested that the five-star hotels in Egypt allow "trade in women" , "explicit prostitution" , "alcohol", and "gambling", while Israel does not allow gambling in its territory, wondering how Islamic Egypt allows what is banned in Zionist Israel. Abu Ismail defined his priorities as a president as creating a body to lower the prices of goods and another one for housing, stating that he would remove all security checkpoints. About the working rights women, the Islamist candidate said: "If I became president, I would give my orders to give a monthly salary for any woman who does not work and stay at home, as she plays a great role in raising her children and take care of her husband." Abu Ismail emphasised that the aim of his election platform is to focus on human resources, which can implement policies through human development aiming to create a model Egyptian citizen. He added: "My strategy depends on 10 bodies of the state working on the development of the Egyptian citizen; like the army, the media, the culture, and the clubs, which have conflicts in their approaches, and I hope to work on building a strong Egyptian citizen."
