Osaka - Arabstoday

Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs Osaka - Arabstoday On the final leg of a 10-year-long world tour, “Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs” exhibition will officially open at the Tampozan Special Gallery in the Japanese city of Osaka. Egyptian Minister of State for Antiquities Mohamed Ibrahim will travel to Osaka tomorrow to lead Egypt’s official delegation at the opening on Wednesday. Ibrahim described the event as a message to the Japanese people that Egypt is safe and ready to welcome visitors from around the world. He told Ahram Online that he would meet top Japanese tourism officials at the opening ceremony and ask them to lift the ban on the Japanese visiting Egypt since the January 25 Revolution. Ibrahim also plans to discuss continuing the procedures of the Japanese grant offered to complete the construction of the Grand Egyptian Museum overlooking Giza plateau. Adel Abdel Satar, head of the Museums Department, said that the exhibition includes 122 artefacts carefully selected from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, 50 of them from the collection of King Tutankhamun. Since its start in 2002, the exhibition has travelled to Brazil, Switzerland, Germany, France, the United States and Australia.
