Ennahdha seeks to ensure success of municipal elections

Emad al-Khumeiri, a member of the Political Bureau and spokesman of Ennahdha Movement, said that Ennahdha movement started organizing the first group of local and regional conferences since 2 April 2017, with approximately 100 local offices in the entire territory of the republic, and to continue throughout the month in accordance with the agreed national calendar.

Khumeiri told Arabs Today that the renovation of the local and regional structures comes as part of the completion of the outputs of the tenth conference of Ennahdha Movement. "It is one of the renewal stations that the Movement has always followed to fulfill the outcomes of this conference, which is based on the political specialization and openness of the party to men, women, youth and businessmen, in addition to the service side, that is, the party is based on solving the problems of Tunisians, especially those related to development and employment," he added.

He pointed out that these conferences are a continuation of the process of renewal and the outcome of the tenth conference in accordance with the rules of procedure of the party. "These conferences also fall within the framework of specialization and the party's orientation towards containing all Tunisians and solving their problems, whether related to development or in relation to local governance," he stated.

Ennahdha spokesman explained that their slogan in Ennahdha Movement is to reach the municipal elections and to succeed in it, in the framework of completing the democratic construction. He said that they are a party with a strong ambition in the preparation that started with structural renovation. He stressed that the election office and local government in the movement are preparing a strategy related to the municipal elections and has been presented to the Politburo waiting for the approval of the Shura Council.

Regarding his position on what is said of the bias of the Electoral Commission to Ennahdha Movement when determining the date of the municipal elections, he siad that unfortunately some political parties in Tunisia still consider that any step taken in the country is in favor of  his movement, although the same parties were calling for a final date for the municipal elections. "It is important today that a political dialogue be conducted to complete the conditions of success of these elections very soon," he concluded.
