Cairo - XINHUA
Fifteen people died and more than 80 persons were injured in clashes erupted between the security and Brotherhood supporters during the nation\'s celebrations of the 40th anniversary of October 6 war, state TV reported Sunday, quoting the Ministry of Health source. Meanwhile, the State TV reported the arrest of 25 Brotherhood supporters who possessed 51 hand grenades and tried to stop the metro line. And the Egyptian security forces dispersed Muslim Brotherhood supporters who tried to forcefully enter Tahrir square on Sunday. Police fired tear gas at the Brotherhood supporters who tried to storm the square in an attempt to clash with thousands of pro- military demonstrators who gathered in Tahrir to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the October war against Israel, state-run MENA news agency reported. Clashes erupted on Ramses street, with security forces and residents of the area on one side and Brotherhood supporters on the other. Hundreds of pro-Brotherhood protestors tried to reach Tahrir through Ramses street, where 13 persons were killed. In Menya, a governorate south of Cairo, one person was shot dead during clashes between supporters and opponents of the ousted president Mohamed Morsi in the village of Delga. Another person was killed in clash in Beni Sueif Governorate in south of Cairo. Egypt commemorated on Sunday the 40th anniversary of the 1973 war against Israel, as rival rallies by supporters and opponents of Muslim Brotherhood mounted. The interior ministry warned on Saturday against \"attempts that may disturb the October 6 celebrations in Egypt.\"
