In the early hours of the brisk morning of 24 February, the first ever Marathon
Egypt - Arab today

Once again the sports community in Egypt has proven that it can be a mighty tool for the good of the community as they associate their next marathon with a cause for children's hearts

The event, dubbed Aswan42 in homage to the marathon distance of 42 km, will provide participants with a great experience of running for the first time along the banks of Egypt's River Nile. It comes as a collaboration between the Magdi Yacoub Foundation (MYF) and the sports community of TriFactory.

The NGO, and its affiliated Aswan Hear Center (AHC), aim to provide the less privileged in Egypt with treatments to heart diseases. The non-profit project is located in Upper Egypt's Aswan.

TriFactory is a company that specialises in endurance sports, triathlons, and mass participation events, providing training for athletes as well as facilitating sports travel and organising events in the field.

All proceeds of the marathon are to be donated to the AHC, and the event itself promises to be an opportunity to showcase the beauty of Egypt to the world, with as many as a dozen nationalities having already signed up and with the founder of MYF and celebrated Egyptian surgeon, Sir Magdi Yacoub, are expected to attend the marathon in person.

Participants can choose between various running distances. There will be a full 42 km marathon, a half course (21 km), or a 10 km distance. A 2km run will also be available for kids under the age of 10
