Dozens of vintage cars will take to the streets of Cairo on Saturday in a third annual festival organised by the Automobile and Touring Club of Egypt (ATCE) as part of an effort to "preserve car heritage" in the country, Ahram Auto website reported.

Mounir Zahad, the head of the classical cars division at the ATCE, told Ahram Auto that some 100 vintage cars will move through Salah Salam Boulevard and streets in the Heliopolis district in east Cairo.

According to Zahad, the cars participating in the festival are older than 30 years, popular among the public and no long manufactured internationally.

Zahad said the cars will include four that appeared in some classic Egyptian films, including an A-1946 Packard Cabriolet that appeared in the 1950 classic film The Beach of Love starring Hussein Sedky and Laila Murad.

The vehicles will also include a 1954 Packard Patrician convertible that appeared in the 1962 film A Message From an Unknown Woman starring Farid El-Atrash.

Zahad also said that a Rolls Royce owned by Egypt’s late King Farouk I will also hit the streets in the carnival
