Cairo - KUNA
Three prominent Kuwaiti poets, at a poetic soire held late on Tuesday as part of Cairo International Book Fair, enthralled the audience with a variety of poetic verses of patriotic and romantic themes.Ali Al-Failakawi, Salem Al-Rumaidhi and Ali Musaed were masterminds of the distinguished night-time poetic gathering, organized by the chairman of Cairo's branch of Kuwaiti Students Union, Nasser Al-Ugab.In remarks to KUNA, Musaed expressed deep pleasure for taking part in the Cairo International Book Fair activities, in which Kuwait is participating as a guest of honor. He also noted significance of interacting with the Egyptian literati and promoting the Kuwaiti poetry.Bridges of cultural and artistic cooperation should be set up among Arab nations, particularly between Kuwait and Egypt, Musaed said.Musaed denounced a recent bombing that left extensive damage at the 100-year-old Cairo Islamic Art Museum and the National Library and Archives (NLA). A car bomb blew up on January 24th, inflicting heavy damage to the museum, home to some 100,000 priceless artifacts, and the library building. The poetic soire, atmosphere of which was blended with the captivating Kuwaiti poetry, was attended by a large number of Egyptian, Kuwaiti and Arab literati.Kuwait is also involved in the international fair with a pavilion, displaying the Gulf country major publications. Two days ago, the renowned Kuwaiti novelist, Ismail Fahad Ismail, addressed a seminar held on sidelines of the cultural event. The short-story writer and literary critic affirmed necessity of interaction among the Arab novelists, particularly the young writers, expressing his belief that the junior authors are much more bolder than the senior novelists in addressing taboo issues.Among the other eminent Kuwaiti figures present in the activities is the writer, Laila Al-Othman.
