
The EU welcomed today the appointment of Ahmed Abdul Ghait as new Secretary-General of The League of Arab States.
A statement released by the EU foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, said that Abdul Ghait's experience, determination and leadership will be important in driving the League's initiatives forward in a region faced with multiple challenges and opportunities.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, SPA, Federica Mogherini expressed her thanks and appreciation go to the outgoing Secretary-General, Nabeel Al-Araby, for his constructive and excellent cooperation over the past years.
