“The Dolphin Law: A Short Story” (published by AuthorHouse) is a novel written by author Linda Collister. It is published posthumously by her husband Jim Collister. It is a mythical story of human-dolphin inter-relationship that takes readers on an adventure where the two species learn to trust and care for one another. Set in the northwestern coast of the United States, a grandmother relates to her grandchildren her experience of helping to save a baby dolphin from an oil spill. A mother dolphin faces the need to break the historic The Dolphin Law to save her child, Kriti. The mother dolphin, Loa, and the grandmother, Linda, have to overcome their fears and prejudices in order to work together to save the suffocating baby, Kriti. The story is fast moving with several twists and turns. It is a good lesson for overcoming prejudice and treating each other with mutual dignity and respect. Linda was a dolphin lover and researcher studying dolphin life in such various locations as Midway Island, Maui and Lanaii, Hawaii and in the Caribbean while sailing with her family. She was an ardent advocate for clean oceans and protection of sea life. Of his loving wife, Jim says, “We ultimately will all live or die depending upon how our planet is cared for and nurtured. In spirit there is only one life and one consciousness that we all share.” The writer proceeds of “The Dolphin Law” will be donated to The Linda and Jim Collister Scholarship Endowment at the University of Hawaii. The Endowment was initially funded by Jim Collister and Linda’s many friends as a tribute at her death. The Endowment supports graduate students in the Department of Zoology who are conducting dolphin research. Source: PRWEB
