
Cecilia Lietz was still in high school when her first novel "A Dragon’s Whisperer" published. Now that her second novel "A Dragon’s Mage" is available, Lietz inspires other young people to follow their dreams by making smart decisions and setting goals.
The author’s emphasis on decisions is a main theme of "A Dragon’s Mage," a companion to "A Dragon’s Whisperer." Protagonist Samson “Sam” Slayer is not your average Chicago cop. At age twenty, he must choose between the Mystic Realm—his home—and the world of humans as the two threaten to destroy one another.
Lietz’s second novel takes on a new first-person narrator to explore the identity crisis experienced by Sam Slayer in a relatable way for many teenagers. In the book, Sam, his girlfriend Connie Whitsburg, and her dragon are all that stand in the way of the mages’ new plot to destroy human civilization. The book also explores the ripple effect that personal actions and decisions can have on others.
“Every person has their own battles, their own adventures, and their own personal struggles,” Lietz said. “Within my series the perspectives changes with each book, but the characters are linked through the protagonist, Connie. Her choices change everyone’s lives for good or for bad.”
