Egyptian agricultural exports increase to $2bn
Cairo - MENA

The Egyptian agricultural exports increased to $ 2 billion, said Egypt's Ambassador here Badr Abdel Atti.

The most important exports include citrus fruits (grapes, pomegranate and strawberry constitute 39 percent of it) with total value of $ 964 million.

Meanwhile, the exports of vegetables reached $ 724 million, he noted, adding that tomatoes and kidney beans constitute 36 percent of it.

In statements to the "Business Diplomacy" German newspaper on Thursday, Abdel Atti said that the most important countries that imports the Egyptian crops are Russia, Saudi Arabia, UK, Iraq, UAE, Libya, Italy, Netherlands and Kuwait.

The Egyptian exports to the Arab and European countries increased by 48 and 45 percent respectively, he underscored.

The newspaper hailed choosing Egypt as a guest of honor in the Fruit Logistica exhibition organized by Germany here in February 3-5, underlining that agriculture is a sign of civilization like the pyramids.

It said also that Russia's boycott of the Turkish crops will make the eastern European country export products from Egypt.
