General Authority of Civil Aviation
Jeddah - Arab Today

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), is participating at the 9th International Conference for Air Services Negotiation (ICAN 2016) in Nassau, Bahamas.
In a statement, Captain Abdulhakeem Al-Badr, assistant to the GACA president for security, safety and air transport, said that GACA planned to sign a number of bilateral agreements with other countries.
“These agreements will help keep pace with the growth of the air transport industry and provide operational opportunities for our national carriers,” he said.
GACA’s participation in the forum “comes from the Kingdom’s effective position on the international air transport map,” he said, adding that negotiations will also be held with a number of countries to which the Kingdom had associated with in the agreements signed before.
He added that the Kingdom will have full participation in the work of the organization and its committees related to aspects of air transport and security of air navigation.
“This was demonstrated recently by the generous donation of the Kingdom to the initiative, ‘No country left behind,’ to the tune of $1 million,” he said.
Meanwhile, GACA has reassured the public in terms of the safety of air aviation and navigational system.
In the wake of a report by the National Center for Cyber Security about the exposure of some government agencies to a number of attacks to disable servers and systems, a GACA statement said: “The cyber attack targeted various government agencies and the transportation sector, in addition to some other sectors. But because of the security measures that had been taken to protect civil aviation systems, none of the air navigational system has been affected.”
