
Tokyo stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark index slipping off a one-month high as exporters sagged on a pick-up in the yen while a dip in oil prices hit energy firms.
The Nikkei 225 index dropped 1.09 per cent, or 184.76 points, to end at 16,840.00. The broader Topix index of all first-section issues was down 1.03%, or 14.00 points, at 1,342.35.
