The Global Financing Facility announced, in a statement Friday, the financing of three new projects in Jordan and Lebanon, bringing the program's resources to support Syrian refugees and host communities to $ 1 billion.

The projects will focus on expanding public health services in the two countries and strengthening the infrastructure of wastewater networks in Jordan, and will provide additional funding of $ 10 million to facilitate future concessional financing following the announcement of a new pledge from Sweden.
"With this support, we now have the long-term funding that will enable us to withstand," said Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Emad Fakhouri. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for International Development Cooperation and Climate of Sweden Isabella Leuven, announced, at a high-level meeting, held yesterday in Geneva, an additional pledge of $ 10 million grant to the global program of concessional financing facilities.

The new pledge will help in enabling the program to provide $ 50 million in concessional financing to Jordan and Lebanon. "Our humanitarian partners have given decisive and important support, and yet they will not be able to meet the great need," said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health Ghassan Hasbani.

Hafiz Ghanem, World Bank Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa, confirmed that Jordan and Lebanon have provided a public service to the whole world by hosting Syrian refugees.
