Libya’s Prime Minister Fayez Al Sarraj told senior officials of the European Union that they should pay more money to ensure the Libyan support for their efforts to eliminate the phenomenon of illegal immigration.
The statement came on the eve of a meeting between the EU leaders to discuss the measures to prevent the refugees from entering Europe through Italy, as the EU provides training courses to the Libyan coastguards. It also provides Libya and other African states with financial support to control their borders.
Sarraj said, in a statement, the European current support is not enough, expressing his hope that the EU support for Libya will be more practical during the coming period.
On the other hand, Tripoli witnessed clashes on late Thursday between tribal militants in Janzoor area. The clashes came against the backdrop of arresting a militant accused of stealing a car in the area.
