
Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC), met with Nyabenda Pascal, President of the National Assembly of Burundi (NAB), and his accompanying delegation here today.
Dr. Al Qubaisi discussed with the NAB President ways to enhance bilateral co-operation between the two countries, issues of mutual interest and means to strengthen parliamentary relations through the exchange of visits by officials.
During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the FNC and NAB to enhance relations and co-ordinate their stances on various issues at parliamentary events.
The MoU also provides for strengthening consultation and co-ordination on key issues, like security, stability, and fighting terrorism and extremism. It emphasises respect for international laws and conventions, such as the United Nations Charter and International Humanitarian Law, as well as the basic principles for international co-operation.
Under the MoU, the two countries will pursue co-operation in sustainable development, innovation and exchange of expertise.
First FNC Deputy Speaker Marwan bin Ghilata, and FNC Members Saeed Al Muhairi, Saeed Al Rumaithi and Aisha Al Yateem were present at the meeting.
