The Interior Ministry does not protect any violator in police, a senior official told MENA on Friday.
Assistant Interior Minister for Media and Public Relations Sector Maj. Gen. Abu Bakr Abdul Karim said that the ministry would not tolerate with any wrongdoer whether the violations were committed during work or rest periods.
Any policeman violates the law will be referred immediately to the public prosecutor, Abdul Karim said.
There is no place for violators at the ministry as they disturb relations between the security bodies and the Egyptian people, he added, describing the Interior Ministry as "the ministry of the people".
"The ministry will not cover up any violations that may be practiced by some policemen," he stressed.
A police sergeant was arrested for killing by mistake a van driver in Cairo's Al-Darb Al-Ahmar district on Thursday.
