
Minister of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr chaired a meeting of the national committee on following up the implementation of the UN sustainable development goals held here on Monday at the ministry headquarters.
The minister discussed with the UN mission reports being prepared for the preparatory conference to take place in Cairo this month. The reports will be presented at a high-level political conference in New York in July, according to a statement by the ministry.
The minister stressed that the UN Development Program is a key strategic partner of Egypt's and that the government has sought reaching great progress in several fields particularly improving the living standards of the citizens, the statement added.
The minister expounded efforts exerted by the government to encourage growth and improve the living standard of the poor, referring to the social housing program launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi recently which will provide housing units to around 3.6 million low-income nationals.
She asserted the importance of active coordination among the various national programs and the developmental priorities and to reach suitable solutions through which any challenges facing the development goals can be confronted.
