Palestinian gov't backs Hamas-Fatah peace dialogue in Cairo

Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah said Tuesday that the government backs the factions' national dialogue held in Cairo.
"The government would be enabled to take over all its tasks and offer more services to our people in Gaza and alleviate their suffering," Hamdallah said in an emailed statement, stressing that security is among the most urgent issues in Palestine.
The Palestinian factions' dialogue kicked off in Egypt's capital Cairo on Tuesday, marking a new phase of an Egypt-brokered reconciliation deal between rival Islamic Hamas movement and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Party, which was reached on Oct. 12.
The three-day dialogue is expected to review the Fatah-Hamas peace agreement, including the empowerment of the Palestinian government, security control in the Gaza Strip, holding general elections, the reform of the Palestine Liberation Organization and community reconciliation targeting grieving families.
