The UAE Consulate in Barcelona has supervised a project to distribute sacrificial meat provided by the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, in the Spanish region of Catalonia that targeted underprivileged Muslim families, under the framework of social solidarity and in line with Islamic values.
The project, implemented on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, distributed the sacrificial meat to fulfil the needs of around 2,000 Muslim families, through distribution points in mosques in the four cities of Catalonia, which has the highest proportion of Muslim residents in Spain, and that account for seven percent of the local population.
Salem Rashid Al Owais, UAE Consul-General in Barcelona, supervised the project’s preparations while praising the ERC’s role in continuously launching charity initiatives around the world, including to fulfil the needs of Muslims.
Local Islamic institutions and beneficiary families expressed their gratitude to the ERC’s initiative and prayed for the UAE’s leadership and people while stressing that the UAE is always leading in the field of charity and humanitarian action.
