Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Department of Ports and Customs, today launched, at the Ajman Quay, the second 'Control, Security and Safety Patrol', an advanced 36-foot patrol boat with a maximum speed of 45 knots.

The boat has a complete set of marine equipment and safety instruments, which are operational 24 hours a day at the highest modern standards and uses high-precision internal designs. These features enable it to deal with all types of marine and weather conditions, to command, control and strengthen the security and safety of Ajman’s port facilities and maritime borders.

Nasser Obaid Al Suwaidi, Director of the Marine Affairs Department at Ajman Port, stressed that the new patrol is a welcome addition to the local development plan, which aims to widen and improve security in the main port facility and the emirate as a whole, as well as to reduce water pollution, in line with the directive of the wise leadership and the strategic goals of the Ajman 2021 Vision.

He added that the Ajman Department of Ports and Customs is currently witnessing a major increase in the movement of ships and containers, while receiving many of them on a daily basis. He also stressed that their ambitions and aspiration for a bright future are unlimited, out of their faith in the department’s abilities to face future economic challenges.

The department has sent several Emirati personnel abroad to study specialised courses on how to operate modern boats, and who will subsequently supervise the new patrol boat and operate it, according to the latest practices in operating and managing maritime security patrols.

It has also deployed a 24-hour emergency team on standby to deal with, control and limit maritime pollution, within a two hour period, as well to observe anchored ships, secure the port and waterfront, and protect private and public properties and businesses.

The Ajman Department of Ports and Customs manages the local maritime transportation sector and Ajman Port, including land and water areas used for the anchoring, emptying and loading of ships, boats and other forms of maritime transportation with people or goods. Its areas include, but are not limited to, the port’s wet dock, its waterways and all its dry docks, barriers, storage spaces, buildings, fixed equipment, storage tanks and other assets, which fall under the supervision of the port’s authorities.
