The Cairo Security Directorate, upon directives from Minister of Interior Magdy Abdel Ghaffar, stepped up security preparations to secure Christmas and new year celebrations.
The security plan aims at maintaining security and order along with combating all forms of crime in line with legitimacy of law, Cairo Security Chief Maj. Gen. Khaled Abdel Aal told MENA on Sunday.
He added that the plan involves beefing up security presence and police services at the entrances and exits of churches as well as roads leading to them.
Armored vehicles along with security men on board will be dispatched to all traffic axes and vital places, the security chief went on to say.
Meetings were held with all leaderships of the ministry and directives were issued for field supervision and offering the highest degree of security.
