 A driver is in a critical condition after his vehicle rammed a lamppost in Sharjah.
He sustained severe injuries on Tuesday after he lost control of his lorry and crashed into the lamppost on Al Dhaid Road.
An ambulance took him to Al Qassimi Hospital, where he is in intensive care, according to police.
The initial police report said the accident was caused by excessive speeding and sudden swerving.
The accident caused major tailbacks on what a busy stretch of road connecting Sharjah city with the central and eastern regions of the emirate.
Sharjah Police urged motorists to abide by traffic rules and speed limits and to lower speeds during rough weather.
