Egypt takes positive steps towards the attainment of a sustainable agricultural development through increasing productivity and taking advantage of new technological applications, Agriculture Minister Essam Fayed said on Thursday.
Addressing the 33rd session of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Regional Conference for the Near East (NERC), currently held in Rome, Fayed expressed Egypt's keenness to increase investments in the agricultural field and overcome storage and transportation issues.
He noted that Egypt's sustainable agricultural development plan focuses on reclaiming more lands and developing operational mechanisms to offer such lands to investors.
The Egyptian government is working on creating an attractive atmosphere for investment and sustainable development, Fayed noted.
He stressed that an Egyptian company with a total capital of eight billion pounds is currently established to serve an initiative offered by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to reclaim a total area of 1.5 million feddans across the country.
