Emirati women have created a distinctive, innovative model for humanitarianism

Reem Al Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, SCMC, has affirmed that UAE women have proved their worth in various fields, especially in volunteerism and humanitarian work on a regional and international level, leading to the creation a distinctive model that is emulated globally.

In a statement marking World Humanitarian Day, Al Falasi said that H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, praised the role of the 'Mother of the Nation' who placed her mark in this humanitarian realm. H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak made sure that Emirati women were able to actively participate in philanthropic and voluntary initiatives, both locally and globally, to alleviate the suffering of those in need, she continued.

Over the past four decades, the UAE leadership has provided opportunities to empower women and strengthen their positions in all fields, said the SCMC Secretary-General, adding, that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was instrumental in ensuring women's involvement in building the nation, and empowering them to be active members of society.

"Emirati women have accomplished many feats on a local and global scale, where their humanitarian missions have assisted millions of people, creating a distinctive and innovative model for humanitarian aid, social cohesion and volunteerism," Al Falasi concluded.
