In preparation for the Formula 1 event, the Ministry of Works
Manama - Arab Today

In preparation for the Formula 1 event, the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, represented by both the roads and sanitary sectors, has carried out preventive maintenance works on the roads and the sanitary networks.
The maintenance works indicate the Ministry’s responsibility for providing proper infrastructure services to make this important event a success by ensuring smooth traffic flow on roads and increasing traffic safety level; in preparation for the Formula 1- Bahrain Grand Prix which is only a days away. The Ministry has amended safety barriers along the main highways and roads, painted ground markings and pavements, cleaned traffic signs and replaced the damaged ones, in addition to maintaining and cleaning traffic signals.
The Ministry has also completed the construction of new parking lots to accommodate more cars. Parking lot number 7 and parking lot number 8 were paved and lined during the first week of April; to accommodate 2500 additional vehicles. Also, the yards nearby the Circuit, including parking lot number 12 and parking lot number 13, were re-paved to be used as additional parking spaces with a total area of 10000m2. Thus, the available parking lots are now able to accommodate 18000 vehicles, with 8000 paved parking spaces and 10000 unpaved parking spaces.
The Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning has also announced that all works belonging to the roads directorate or any other service directorate will be halted on all the main roads leading to the Circuit during the race period and all lanes will be open for traffic. Also, the Ministry reiterated its readiness to deal with any emergency that requires immediate intervention and will continue to coordinate with the Traffic General Directorate to ensure traffic safety on roads.
The Sanitary Engineering Operation and Maintenance Directorate of the Ministry cleaned all storm water drains along Bahrain Bay Highway and Zallaq Avenue. Also, all sewerage networks, including main and sub-pumping stations were cleaned. The directorate also provided generators to the stations that serve the Bahrain International Circuit, in anticipation of any electrical outage. Tanks were also provided for emergencies and coordination took place with the Traffic General Directorate to determine and organize the track of tanker trucks during any emergency.
A team from the Sanitary Engineering operation & Maintenance Directorate will be present at the event for any fault or emergency. In case of any overflow, kindly contact the Ministry via the hotline 80001810 or the eGovernment portal www.bahrain.bh
