The fourth and final batch of Takatof volunteers, who are responsible for operating the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2017 Astana, have joined the effort in the Kazakh capital. The global expo is being held under the theme "Future Energy" and will continue until 9th September 2017.
Takatof volunteers' participation has been designed to provide individuals with first-hand experiences in global events in order to hone and further develop their skill sets ahead of Expo 2020 Dubai. The highly-anticipated event will be held in the UAE after three years, and will mark the first time that a global expo is held in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia region.
The participation of Takatof volunteers at Expo 2017 Astana comes in light of the National Media Council’s, NMC, efforts to engage Emirati youth and spread a culture of social responsibility by encouraging voluntary work and community engagement.
The volunteerism concept was also a highlight at the Expo and was welcomed by international visitors, as the UAE is the first country solely relying on volunteers at Expo 2017 Astana.
Takatof volunteers engage with visitors through a variety of means, including greeting visitors, providing assistance and responding to a broad range of inquiries related to the UAE’s culture, heritage and customs, in addition to inquiries related to the country’s pioneering projects and initiatives in the fields of sustainability and renewable energy.
