The Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood has launched, in co-operation with the Ministry of Interior, the My Child’s Seat initiative, with the aim of providing safe car seats for children to protect them in road accidents.
Reem Abdullah Al Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, said that this initiative came from the directives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and is among the humanitarian initiatives launched by Her Highness to realise the UAE’s goals, the aspirations and vision of the wise leadership, and the aims of the #Year of Giving 2017.
She added that the campaign also supports the decision of H.H. Sheikha Fatima, announced at the beginning of August, to dedicate the annual Emirati Children’s Day, held on 15th March, to the protection and care of the nation’s children.
In her statement marking the occasion, Al Falasi explained that the initiative is directed towards mothers, fathers and family members, to urge them to donate unwanted child car seats, and encourage them to use or store these seats appropriately.
She also called on potential donors to contribute to the success of the campaign, which aims to care for the nation’s children, enabling them to enjoy their lives, safe from car accidents and other road dangers. The campaign also aims to apply the directives of the Ministry of Interior, with the goal of protecting children.
The centres where people can go to donate to the campaign, as specified by the Council, are: the General Women’s Union Centre in Abu Dhabi, the Dubai’s Women Association, the Women's Union Association-Sharjah, the Al Nahda Women's Association - Ras al-Khaimah, the Community Development Centre in Fujairah, the Women’s Association of Umm Al Qaiwain, and the Umm Al Moumineen Women's Association in Ajman.
The Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood had previously launched several charity and voluntary initiatives and projects, as well as activities related to social responsibility, especially those initiatives that are part of the Year of Giving 2017
