A female Japanese tourist was killed and three other people wounded Tuesday as their vehicle overturned on a highway in Upper Egypt's province of Aswan, official MENA news agency reported.
The investigations showed that small tourist vehicle overturned on Abu Simbel-Aswan highway, killing the 41-year-old Japanese lady and injuring another Japanese tourist, the Egyptian driver and the tour guide.
The injured have been taken to nearby Abu Simbel tourist hospital for treatment.
Road accidents are common in the most populous Arab country due to lack of highway monitoring systems, poor road maintenance and negligence of traffic rules.
Also on Tuesday, at least 19 people were wounded in a traffic crash on a highway between the county's Suez Canal province of Islamilia and the capital Cairo, according to the Health Ministry.
Egypt loses about 12,000 lives due to road traffic crashes every year. It has a road traffic fatality rate of 42 deaths per 100,000 population, said a report from the World Health Organization.
