Move over Saturn! Scientists have found a ring around an unassuming mini-planet in our Solar System to debunk the theory that only giant planets can be so adorned.
The planet, dubbed Haumea, orbits the Sun far beyond Neptune -- the eighth and furthest recognised "full" planet in our star system since Pluto was downgraded to dwarf status in 2006.

An ice-encrusted moon orbiting Saturn appears to have the conditions necessary for life, NASA announced Thursday, unveiling new findings made by its unmanned Cassini spacecraft.
Cassini has detected hydrogen molecules in vapor plumes emanating from cracks in the surface of Enceladus, a small ocean moon coated in a thick layer of ice, the US space agency said.
The plumes haveRead more
NASA's unmanned Cassini spacecraft is preparing for its final plunge into Saturn later this year, after two decades of helping Earth-bound scientists make new discoveries about the sixth planet from the Sun and its mysterious rings.
For what NASA has described as Cassini's "grand finale" as it runs short on fuel, the spacecraft will soar through a 1,500-mile-wide (2,400-kilometer) gapRead more
Not all moons are round like the one orbiting our planet Earth. Saturn, the second largest planet in the solar system, has a strange-shaped moon called Pan.
How strange? Some likens Saturn's tiny moon to a dumpling, while others said it resembles a walnut, or even a UFO.
NASA revealed its closest-ever raw images of Pan earlier this week thatRead more
