Westminster attack was a crime against all Brits and Islam

Another terror act at Westminster which British Prime minister Theresa May  referred to  as ‘an attack on free people. The message from Government and British people is loud and clear ‘we are not afraid’ ‘we are not going to let this terror undermine our unity.’ Faith leaders  Muslin, Christian and Jewish are working together  to show a unified voice that neither culture of faith will disunite the British people.
 
All very well and what it should be .  But IS  is  potentially winning the propaganda war as its creating division in our multicultural society. And that is far far more dangerous. The Muslim community does not and should not need to defend itself against this heinous crime .
 
This was an odious an act of terror, directed towards innocent civilians to create as much disruption as possible.  The perpetrator a  convicted criminal, a Brit and Muslim convert took away the life of a few including an unarmed policeman Keith Palmer lost his life, as did  mother of two Aysha Frade.   Whether this crime   is IS inspired or directed is not really the salient issue The most damaging issue to arise from this attack as the previous ones in France, Nice, Brussels is the Islamphobia that is arising which will damage our way of life as we know it and the process has already began .
 
Whether it takes the form of travel bans against Muslim countries or stricter security on flights coming in from Muslim countries.  The message that is being sent out is that Muslims are ‘the other’ tainted with the same brush as these criminals.  Just take the innocent   passerby in a Hijab at the Westminster bridge  who was judged to be thoughtless and uncaring. What created these judgements were solely her religion..
 
What these terrorist acts do under the guise of a perverted corrupted, Islam is to create a division in multicultural societies that have functioned perfectly well together.  We in the West are slowly crumbling  and dividing  because of these mindless acts and the danger lies here.  We are being ensnared into the trap of IS agenda  whose aim is to create schism in our  free society. Subtle or not so subtle the atmosphere that is being created  by these attacks in Europe’s capitals is one of anti Islam. It is making a division in our society which is exactly what iS wants.
 
Until we are able to recognise that this attack as other attacks were and are about a way of life. Its an attack on our liberties, our individual rights our law and constitution that make all of equal in the eyes of the law whatever our gender race faith  colour.   
There is no discrimination towards a person because of their race colour faith or gender. But increasingly   we are seeing a division, a questioning of British Muslims, a demand that we should stand up and condemn this crime under the Muslim banner. But surely the key fact here is we are British and we condemn this act because its a crime against all  of us.?
 
One part of British society should not have to apologies for the rest of the British community for a crime that it neither did or supported.
 
IS has been focused from the very beginning in creating a separation of us versus them. IS wanted to create a seed of doubt and the most effective way to do this was not simply by sending or radicalising young people to commit acts of terror but by creating a deliberate fear of separation and divide towards the British French Belgian Muslim communities. IS are only able to rule by fear and torture. Its ideology is power and it wants to see our multicultural society divided.
 
As soon as we start creating divisions and separation in our society we begin the slippery road of exclusion and that is exactly what IS wants. It has wanted it from the beginning and it needs it even more now that it is loosing control and land over its so called Islamic caliphate
 
Whilst ISIS may be gloating at this crime that killed a policeman and injured many with  several  deaths,  the long term goals of attempting to destroy the freedom and liberty which is at the heart of British democracy will utterly fail but only if we as Brits collectively stand up and shout  loud and clear as a unified voice .
