
Energy-producing houses will be available as an option for the beneficiaries of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, and chairman of the national housing scheme, said on Wednesday.
The option was introduced as part of the fast-paced efforts to promote green economy and sustainable development, he noted while opening a forum on environmental efforts in Dubai.
The Programme seeks to offer the best services and housing units that meet internationally-recognised standards, he said.
The forum brought together the strategic partners of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme to highlight environmental and sustainability efforts.
The gathering, he said, was in line with a national long-term 'Green Economy for Sustainable Development' initiative to build a green economy in the UAE as the Programme seeks to use innovative resources to achieve the UAE Vision 2021.
The strategic initiative was announced by Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, he noted.
