Doctor tried to inject senior with HIV blood

 In a shocking incident in a government hospital a doctor tried to attack his senior and inject him with HIV-infected blood in an act of revenge.

The incident at the Prodattur government hospital in Kadapa district has left the other employees shocked.

The police have booked an attempt to murder case against the orthopaedic doctor David Raju and took him into custody after he made an attempt to inject hospital superintendent, Dr Lakshmi Prasad, with HIV-infected blood.

Police said the two were locked in a running feud as Lakshmi Prasad chided David Raju on many occasions for dereliction of duty.

“Despite working honestly and discharging duties he was harassing me,” David Raju told the police.

According to the hospital employees, David Raju went to the special ward on the top floor and collected blood in a syringe from a patient suffering from Aids.

Then he went to the ground floor office where the superintendent was allotting duties to the security staff. One of the employees who spotted the syringe loaded with blood in David’s hand alerted the superintendent. As David Raju lunged at Lakshmi Prasad to jab him with the syringe, the hospital superintendent took to his heels, but in the melee the infected blood spilt on Lakshmi Prasad’s shirt and floor.

David Raju was overpowered and restrained by the hospital staff, who then alerted senior officials.

A complaint was lodged with the Prodattur police station where an attempt to murder case was booked.

Kadapa district collector T Babu Rao has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
