
Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid on Monday assigned the defense and interior ministers to head for Ben Gardan border city to follow up on the security measures taken in the wake of a terrorist attack at a national guard barracks in the city.
A statement for the Tunisian government said the premier decided during his meeting with the two ministers to conduct a comprehensive combing and search operation in the southern areas in search for any terrorist elements.
He also assigned the two ministries to coordinate to secure vital facilities and public property and operate land and air patrols for security.
Essid summoned the two ministers earlier in the day for an urgent meeting in the wake of a terrorist attack against the country's national guard barracks in Ben Gardan city close to the borders with Libya at dawn.
A statement by the Tunisian government said the meeting will take up the developments in Ben Gardan city.
One Tunisian soldier and ten terrorists were killed after the army foiled a terrorist attack targeting the country's national guard barracks in Ben Gardan.
