The Ministry of Presidential Affairs in the United Arab Emirates announced the death of Deputy Ruler of Fujairah Shaikh Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi.
"With great sadness and sorrow, HH President of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, mourns the death of Shaikh Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Deputy Ruler of Fujairah," the ministry said in a statement.
President of the United Arab Emirates ordered the flags be flown half mast across the country during a three-day mourning period.
