
Agriculture Minister Essam Fayed asserted on Sunday that the poultry industry in Egypt is strong and promising.
In statements, he added that 2.5 million Egyptians are working in poultry industry, adding that investments in this industry reach 30 billion pounds.
The industry is annually producing about 1.25 billion chicks, around one billion chicken and about 8 billion eggs.
Egypt is close to self-sufficiency in the chicken production, the minister said, adding that 22,000 licensed poultry farms are currently working in Egypt.
Meanwhile, Head of the Animal Production and Poultry sector in the Ministry of Agriculture Khalid Tawfik said the ministry is currently working on surpassing the problem of high prices of feed via cultivating more lands with maize and soybean.
He added that the minister directed to surpass all obstacles facing investors in this field.
