His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, praised President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's commitment to honouring the nation's martyrs, as part of the national strategy for the Year of Giving.
''The move signifies the prudent leadership's loyalty and gratitude by keeping the martyrs' sacrifices alive in the UAE's memory,'' HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed said in a statement at the Federal Cabinet meeting, which was held at the Wahat Al Karama (Oasis of Dignity) on Sunday.
HH Sheikh Mohamed stated that the values of giving, generosity and goodness were aligned with the approach of the UAE's leadership, government and people, and the sacrifices of the nation's martyrs would be remembered while publicising the charitable initiatives during the Year of Giving.
''Giving is deeply embedded in the UAE people, implanted by its founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the UAE, led by President Khalifa, is pursuing this pioneering humanitarian role,'' he said.
Sheikh Mohamed said he was extremely pleased to attend the exceptional Cabinet session, chaired by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
''I value the tireless efforts of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and express my firm belief that these initiatives will be transformed into national programmes of action that will deliver its aspired goals. HH is well known for his dedication, persistent hard work, determination and for harnessing energies towards the best for the UAE and its people,'' he stressed.
''Convening the Cabinet meeting at Wahat Al Karama shows the government and the people's pride in our martyrs, and their willingness to support and comfort the families of the martyrs with a unified national spirit,'' Sheikh Mohamed added.
''As we remember the values of giving and sacrifice in the best form, we also recall those epics written by our heroes while performing their national duty,'' he said.
''We count on all individuals and establishments to support the Year of Giving initiatives, as they make a positive impact on the entire community," Sheikh Mohamed noted
