Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday Israel will not allow Daesh or any other 'hostile organization' use the chaos of the war in Syria to set up shop on its northern borders, Israeli media reported.
“"We are very prepared on our northern border, and we will not allow Islamic State, nor other hostile elements, use the war in Syria as cover to set themselves up on our borders," he added.
Netanyahu said the current fires were in many ways more complex and difficult to deal with than the Carmel forest fire of 2010, which had killed 44 people.
Netanyahu thanked the many governments that sent firefighting assistance, and said he is now initiating the creation of an international fire fighting force that would be coordinated not only in dealing with disasters, but also in purchasing plans and sharing in their costs.
"I have spoken to a number of leaders in the region, who have expressed interest in the idea," he said
